Responsibilities and Requirements : Ensures that all new construction is completed in accordance with contract documents, permit requirements, approved material list, and approved shop drawings.Ensures that all construction projects are properly inspected throughout Old Dominion Utility Services area of service.Prepares Daily Inspection Reports documenting the progress of work along with any photos of the work.Witnesses required tests and ensures all tests are performed in accordance with contract requirements.Attends project progress meetings, other project-related meetings, and prepares meeting minutes.Interfaces with Base personnel and other regulatory agencies.Performs final inspection, prepares a final Punch List, and ensures all items on the Punch List be completed or corrected by the contractor.Performs field checks on all red-line as-built plans to assure completeness of the plans.Reports any unauthorized construction of water and sewer infrastructure and unmetered connections to system that could be considered possible cross connections.Performs other duties as assigned.Works under general supervision.Required ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent.Three years related inspection experience.Ability to communicate effectively.Ability to read construction drawings and system maps.Construction Management certificate/coursework preferred.Construction Law coursework preferred.Engineering experience/education preferred.Computer literate including and/or GIS application experience preferred.Valid Driver License is required.NOTE: Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with special needs to perform the essential functions.May include but not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping and crouching, sitting, typing, walking, reading, writing, color determination, speaking and listening for extended periods of time.
