Responsibilities : Underwrite profitable specialty lines business while maintaining good relations with our agents/ agencies. With minimal supervision, use knowledge and experience to analyze exposures, obtain proper price/exposure, document thought process, and execute key financial and service objectives.Develop and maintain a profitable book of Specialty Lines business.Quote and write accounts that meet Specialty Lines Program requirements (based on underwriting guidelines).Generate new business sales/production by developing agency relationships and increasing renewal retention.Price accounts to ensure an underwriting profit.Process information by preparing policy issuance instructions, organizing files for issuance, and processing documents to assure accurate and timely billing.Assist Marketing in managing agency relationships through: Recruiting/appointing new agencies in conjunction with agency profile.Rehab or canceling poor performing agencies.Soliciting book rollovers.Developing annual agency plans with each agency.Assume accountability for growth and profit for a select territory/region.

Requirements :1 year of direct Specialty Lines or multiline Commercial underwriting experience.Knowledge and ability to underwrite all Specialty Lines Programs within underwriting guidelines.Knowledge and ability to underwrite all lines of Commercial business.Ability to interpret inspection surveys, loss runs, and financial statements.Ability to assimilate and analyze agency management reports.Excellent problem-solving skills.Superior verbal- and written-communication skills.Strong desk-management skills, including organization/prioritization, and ability to multitask.Desired:Excellent keyboard/PC skillsBachelor's degree from four-year college or university.Completion of Specialty Lines Underwriting training program (or comparable insurance education will be considered).Completion or active enrollment.
