Responsibilities and Requirements : The National Nuclear Security Administration is responsible for carrying out the national nuclear security responsibilities of the Department of Energy, including maintenance of a safe, secure and reliable stockpile of nuclear weapons and associated materials capabilities and technologies; promotion of international nuclear safety and nonproliferation; and administration and management of the naval nuclear propulsion program.Organization Location:National Nuclear Security Administration Office of Defense Nuclear Security Office of Security Operations and Performance Assurance Performance Assurance Division Note: Salary includes 2009 23.10% locality-based adjustment. Permanent Change of Station Expenses will not be paid. More than one position may be filled from this announcement. This announcement is being concurrently advertised under merit assignment procedures for status candidates under announcement number 10-NA-00-032. Candidates who wish to be considered under both procedures MUST apply to both vacancies. This position is covered by the NNSA Demonstration Project. Effective March 16, 2008, NNSA began operating under a Pay Banding and Pay for Performance Demonstration Project in which positions are classified by career path, occupational series, and pay bands (rather than the traditional Schedule grades in the Federal Service). NQ-03 pay band is equivalent to the GS-13/14 grade levels. This position has no promotion potential. NNSA's Demonstration Project allows us the flexibility to offer exceptional candidates higher salaries than most other Federal agencies. Additionally, employees are eligible to receive an annual pay increase based upon performance.
