Responsibilities : Performs patient financial counseling to include charity assistance, payment arrangements, applications, Medicare Lifetime Reserve Days and other financial options.Collect co-pays and deductibles that may be due.Communicates with hospital departments, physician and patients regarding the insurance information and benefits.Provides price quotes for hospital services to physicians, hospital departments and patients.  Provides payment options and/or requests monies from patients according to policy and insurance contracts.Answers, screens and directs telephone calls to appropriate staff; provides information in response to general inquiries from patients, visitors, staff and others regarding insurance and financial options questions to include appropriate financial counseling as requested.Explains consent forms and obtains patient signatures in accordance with all applicable state and federal insurance regulations, (e. WAC, CMS, WSHA). Obtains current physician orders to accompany patient chart; receives and logs patient articles for safekeeping in accordance with internal procedures.Maintains confidential written and verbal communications in accordance with guidelines when answering requests and/or investigating concerns/issues; also ensuring that information provided is accurate and/or refers customer to appropriate hospital resource when necessary.
