Websphere Administrator - (Un-NY-New York - 10292) Minimum Education: Bachelors Jobcode: 280574 Email this job to yourself or to a friend | Job Match Test | Resume Guide Administration of WebSphere Application Server on Linux including the installing, configuring, upgrading, and tuning of multiple WebSphere Application servers, ensure compatibility of supporting software and services such as Java, Linux, and third party applications, support for Java developers and Java tools in deploying applications to WebSphere. Work closely with Software Configuration Management Team for QA, UAT and Production migrations and releases. Prepare procedure for BACKUP, ROLLBACK and ROLLOUT of application deployments and configurations. PYTHON Scripting for Build Automation and Unix Shell scripting for automating WAS related scripts. Job responsibilities: Maintain and manage IBM Iseries operating system, hardware resources, and software products via installation and working with the vendor for resolution. Install new hardware when applicable.Administer WebSphere Application Servers and related components across all development, test and production environments.Assist Operations with Disaster Recovery planning by evaluating current test plan and conducting recovery practices. Determine cost effective backup strategies while ensuring an efficient recovery process. Analyze and recommend backup media retention policiesDevelop and implement appropriate Security PoliciesAssist IT development staff with analyzing software and hardware performance concerns and determine best usage of system internals or capabilities.Participate in companys customized Unified Pension Systems (UPS) software design sessions when new or advanced system capabilities are required.Liaison with LAN group in analyzing network related problems.Write programs/utilities to be used by staff and to assist in job duties. Requirements/Skills Demonstrate knowledge of programming languages and techniques.Demonstrate networking techniques such as TCP/IP, SNA etc.Expert knowledge in analyzing and identifying WebSphere application performance issues.Ability to work in a dynamic environment with developers and the change management team to ensure that WebSphere applications run correctly. Troubleshoot with the System Architect and System support teams,Familiarity with Linux sufficient to administer WAS on Redhat Enterprise.Understanding of SOA architecture, TCP/IP communications, Change Management and Networking.
