Responsibilities and Requirements : Senior Commercial Title UnderwriterThe candidate will be responsible for underwriting title insurance policy coverage and endorsements for national commercial real estate transactions. Will leverage the company's title production platform for all facets of commitment construction and revisions, proforma policy and endorsement production, and final policy and endorsement issuance to consistently meet customer deadlines for same. Additionally, monitors/prioritizes work tasks and timely assigns work product for distribution to necessary teammates through workflow to ensure high individual and team productivity levels. Full proficiency in production and workflow capabilities (and enhancements thereto) is a core competency of the position. Provide customers with timely answers to title and underwriting issues impacting their particular transaction. Provide technical expertise to customers and junior staff members regarding company insurance products. Review surveys and perform survey readings, as well as draft responses to title objection letters. Review and negotiate Indemnity Agreements and Escrow Funding Agreements; placement of Re-insurance; and review of transactional, organizational and authority documents. Anticipate and resolve potential problems affecting title.The candidate should preferably be an experienced Commercial Title Underwriter, Title Officer or Senior Commercial Real Estate Paralegal with solid commercial real estate title examination and underwriting experience. A law degree is desired. Must have 10+ years of commercial real estate title review and underwriting experience with a major national title insurer (3+ years of said experience within the last 5 years). Should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills; including well-rounded knowledge of commercial title principles and practices including, inter alia, knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, title insurance regulations and agency rules affecting the title industry. Must be able to exploit MS Office Word, Outlook, basic Excel, and various extra/intranets.
