Responsibilities : Provides experience, knowledge and leadership to the enterprise-wide maintenance and enhancement of Scripps data warehouses, databases and data marts. Helps manage the design and development of I/S data warehouses, databases and related master files, and is responsible for their stability, integrity, and performance. Initiates and/or carries out projects to expand or improve the database system such as integrating additional data into the database, enhancing data quality, and upgrading the database software, hardware or operating system Establishes and enforces standards for use, control, updating and maintenance of databases. Designs and implements methods for system restart, recovery, backup and data reconstruction. Analyzes and enhances the performance of databases and database servers. Proficient in the design, development and maintenance of extraction-transform-load scripts/jobs and in addressing data quality issues utilizing Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Provides technical expertise in the use of the Cognos business intelligence tool. Develops and maintains BI metadata and user interfaces, along with developing a variety of custom report types when highly complex use of the tools is required. Ensures integration between business requirements and the data warehouse. Works with user groups to facilitate development & documentation of reporting requirements, reporting design, and enhanced usage of the BI application tools.

Requirements :Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in Information Services environment. 7 years comprehensive experience with database systems and related software. 4 years comprehensive experience with SQL Server database administration and development (2005 & 2008). 3 years recent experience in developing extract / transformation / load (ETL) jobs. 2 years of this must be in utilizing Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to create and debug ETL packages in a data warehouse environment. 2 years hands on experience with the Cognos business intelligence application or similar BI tool. Knowledge and documented experience to include: SQL Server data warehouse and databases development and support. T-SQL, stored procedures development, and DTS. Database design /modeling practices.
