Responsibilities : Under the supervision of the Branch Manager and guidance from both the Senior Epidemiologist of the Texas Birth Defects Registry and Senior Analyst of the National Birth Defects Prevention Study, serves as the Data Linkage and Research Specialist for the Branch. Conducts or supports ongoing linkages of Registry data with existing datasets that reside in the Branch and other DSHS programs. Explores new linkages with datasets that might include those from DSHS; the Health and Human Services Commission/sister agencies; and other State agencies. Plans, conducts and/or supports research projects/studies. Explores, utilizes, and evaluates new approaches and software for reliable, reproducible, and cost-effective data linkages.

Requirements : Experience working with a variety of databases 2. Extensive database management experience 3. Extensive experience retrieving and analyzing data 4. Extensive experience with linking and integration of databases 5. Familiarity and experience with software such as word processors, database management software, spreadsheet software, and graphics programs.Additional Information:This position is Federally funded by a grant from the Centers for Disease Control for the next 4 years.
