Responsibilities : The Department seeks an individual who will value the strengths of these unique programs but can also generate initiatives that respond to changes in design pedagogy and professional practice. Applicants for this position must be able to demonstrate dynamic leadership with a record of administrative experience in professional and/or academic venues and the ability to integrate and inspire the Department’s diverse academic and professional faculty. The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills that will facilitate a close working relationship with the Dean of the College, Program Directors and faculty as well as foster collegiality, interdisciplinary initiatives and excellence in teaching and research. The ability to effectively represent the Department to the local, regional, and national design communities is also necessary. The Department Head will be responsible for both operating and instructional budgets and must be an active participant in the College’s and University’s fundraising efforts. The position requires a professional degree, professional registration and significant experience in teaching, design, practice, research, and/or scholarship that would merit appointment with tenure. Specialized expertise in areas such as sustainability, historic preservation, urban design, building technology, international practice or education, etc. should be highlighted in the application. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Requirements :Bachelor of Architecture degree within a work-study educational model. A seven-year, part-time evening option serves a large population of non-traditional students drawn from throughout the greater Philadelphia region. The unique 2 4 Option caters to recent high-school graduates who follow two years of full-time study with four years of part-time study in the evening. Students in both options gain professional working experience in architectural firms while attending classes in the evening. The Interiors Program consists of approximately 140 undergraduate students pursuing a CIDA-accredited BS in Interior Design and approximately 70 graduate students pursuing a NASAD-accredited MS in Interior Architecture & Design. BS Interior Design students participate in professional co-operative employment during their course of study. All students and faculty within the Department are expected to have close working relationships with their respective professions.
