Responsibilities and Requirements : A provide assistance to dentists in the general or specialized treatment of patients in both routine and emergency procedures in the areas of diagnostic, preventive, restorative, periodontal, endodontic, pedodontic, orthodontic, oral surgery, and prosthodontic dental care.umbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.The primary function of the Dental Assistant II is to provide chair side assistance to doctors assigned to the dental faculty practice. When not performing dental assisting duties within the dental faculty practice, the Dental Assistant II will assist dental residents and dental students within the School of Dental Medicine's advanced education residencies, pre-doctoral clinics, and outreach clinic. The chosen candidate must be able to assist in all areas of dental treatment to include restorative, periodontics, endodontics, orthodontics, oral surgery, pediatric, and prosthodontic dentistry. The incumbent must possess basic knowledge of proper diagnostic and preventive dentistry protocols, must be familiar with proper dental supply disciplines, must possess basic knowledge of dental software operating systems, and must use and store dental materials in accordance with manufacturer's directions.
