Responsibilities : Job Description: The candidate for this position will be responsible for using his/her knowledge and experience in exploring and developing carbonate reservoirs to expand the USX business unit position in carbonate trends throughout the United States. This will primarily include the business unit’s ongoing areas of activity, with emphasis on the Gulf Coast Mesozoic Trends, Appalachian Basin and Arkoma Basin. Be a technical resource to increase the knowledge and utilization of key geologic concepts in the USX business unit development areas. The candidate may have specific projects, but will need to be able to mentor and coach team members in carbonate reservoir geology.

Requirements : MS Degree in Geology. Preferred Thesis or focused graduate work with Carbonate Rocks. Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent, full-time basis. Ten years or more of industry experience as a petroleum geologist. A significant amount of this time should be directly related to carbonate reservoirs. Expertise in the use of appropriate geologic software is required. Southwestern currently uses Petra, SMT and other geologic software. Capable of effectively working in a multi-disciplinary team environment, successfully working on multiple projects with different levels of responsibility. The candidate will be creative and innovative. A track record of generating prospects and creating value will be required. Knowledgeable of depositional settings, digenesis and structural impacts of carbonate rocks, required. General knowledge of all reservoirs types and the ability to integrate the overall basin setting as it impacts new play exploration.
