Responsibilities: The Institutional Research and Assessment Analysts primary responsibilities include the following: Constructing reports and retrieving accurate data from the Colleges Banner database and student data warehouse for both internal and external data requests (surveys, reports, etc.), including maintaining the data log/calendar of requests, coordinating the collection of data from various College departments when necessary; extracting and analyzing systems data to identify errors and inconsistencies, and serving as primary contact with College departments to resolve data inaccuracies/inconsistencies. Managing College-wide surveys, including data entry and preliminary analyses. Analyzing data and writing reports and summaries from the data. Supporting Director in presenting data to constituents, discussing implications, and establishing action items. Assisting Director in working with departments and IT to develop new data warehouses for financial aid, faculty, and assessment data. Assisting Director in all the Colleges assessment projects, including developing research designs and strategies for data collection, analysis and interpretation. Supervising work/study student including maintaining a calendar of tasks; and training work/study student in the use of spreadsheet, database, and graphic programs. Recommending policies and procedures relative to the Office of Institutional Research, Planning, and Academic Assessment activities. Performing related duties as needed. Qualifications: Bachelors degree with an emphasis on quantitative skills (statistics, economics, business, accounting, sociology, or other related areas) and two years experience in research design, statistical methods, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting using database or statistical programs, or related experience. A Masters degree is preferred. Experience with data warehousing concepts and querying data warehouse tables is preferred. Advanced level of proficiency with Word, Excel including pivot tables, etc, and Access, including ability to construct advanced queries is required; working knowledge of SPSS preferred. Basic understanding of educational assessment in general and student learning outcomes assessment specifically, a plus. Familiarity with survey software, such as SurveyMonkey, Snap, or Gravik Remark a plus. Excellent English usage, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Excellent judgment, discretion, accuracy, and attention to detail. Excellent organization skills with a keen orientation to deadlines, the ability to multi-task in a priority-driven environment, and the ability to work independently or as a part of a team. Ability to exhibit strong customer service orientation for all levels of College constituencies and members of the public. Ability to take appropriate steps to promote and sustain effective working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment. .
