(b) Contribute to the planning of research studies, including the compilation of literature reviews and designing strategies for data collection and analysis; anticipate intellectual, analytical, or logistical challenges associated with research studies. (c) Help develop, communicate, and implement best practices in assessment with the goal of enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the office. (d) Consult with individual departments and units on assessment planning and projects. (e) Manage undergraduate, graduate, and professional school course evaluation systems: Develop and implement efficiency-based enhancements to existing procedures Communicate effectively with department personnel Coordinate the scanning effort among staff members Design and implement processes for reviewing data and cross-checking reports Compile return rates and other summary informational documents Develop protocols and documentation (f) Coordinate surveys: Design, test, and implement online surveys Monitor data collection and manage data archiving Design and/or edit report templates and dissemination-ready documents, delegating to the Research Assistant staff as appropriate Maintain master survey calendar Monitor and report Summer Advising Log Conduct statistical analyses as necessary Develop protocols and documentation (g) Manage databases: Thoughtfully and intentionally plan the assembly and organization of data to maximize the flexibility and adaptability of resulting datasets Clean, merge, manipulate, and organize data to serve current and future research questions Input all data updates on a regular basis, including undergraduate student status changes and major declarations Develop protocols and documentation (h) Coordinate regular and ad hoc assessment initiatives (e.g., Global Perspectives Inventory, Collegiate Learning Assessment, Reasoning about Current Issues test, and the Defining Issues Test) Attend training sessions, communicating content to additional shareholders as necessary Plan and administer periodic assessments Conduct statistical analyses as necessary (i) Coordinate website development Maintain up-to-date course evaluation documents online Monitor and respond to inquiries submitted via the Office of Assessment Help Form Monitor and update the Student Accessible Course Evaluation System (SACES) interface Manage the set-up, testing, and documentation of the Duke Online Portfolio (j) Contribute to staff development Design and implement standards for Research Assistant training, development, and evaluation Delegate projects to the Research Assistant staff as appropriate Review Research Assistants work and provide developmental feedback Qualifications: EDUCATION A bachelors degree is required, preferably in statistics, education, psychology, or the social sciences. A Masters degree in one of these disciplines is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will have had coursework in statistics, preferably in the area of social science research. .
