Responsibilities : This is a Level 1 position.1. Recognizes environmental compliance requirements, conductscompliance reviews, plans, and develops compliance improvement strategies, implements compliance improvement programs, and tracks improvements through a rigorous audit program.2. Manages efforts to reduce harmful and toxic agents in waste streams through a number of pollution prevention programs.3. Assists in preparing training classes and materials and delivers training courses that have already been developed.4. Manages environmental compliance cases as assigned by the Environmental Programs Manager.5. Plans and schedules work to support and meet division goals and objectives.6. Executes quality control procedures to improve processes and procedures.7. Participates in the management of environmental remedial projects.8. Keep informed on all existing and proposed changes in EH&S regulations related to his/her responsibilities.9. Participates on the University spill response teamBachelor of Science in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science or Engineering, Earth Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or EngineeringCHMM certification or eligibility for CHMM certification Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to waste management, radiation safety and environmental compliance. Good organizational and personnel management . Creative problem solving to recognize and analyze needs and assist in the development of programs to address needs. Excellent written and oral communication . Ability to use computer database and spreadsheet programs. Knowledge of environmental management compliance practices.

Requirements :Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Ergonomics, Engineering or related field. ExperienceNo experience for level 1; two years experience for level 2; three years experience for level 3. Degrees, Licensures, CertificationsValid driver's license. Must have completed or be able to complete First Responder-Operations Level Training (29 CFR 1910.120). Professional certification preferred for level 2 and 3. Fire Safety - ability to obtain CFPS certification within two years of hire. Ability to obtain Pre-Qualification, NC Code Officials Board, Fire Prevention-Level I within one year of hire.
