Responsibilities : The Orlando VA Medical Center is seeking five Telecare Registered Nurses to be a member of the multi-disciplinary Telecare program providing telephone care and serve as the liaison between the veteran and their provider(s) for access to the facility and medical information. The Telecare nurse utilizes effective communication and customer service to triage symptom based concerns. Initiating the nursing process, the Telecare nurse assesses, devises a working nursing diagnosis, formulates a plan, intervenes and evaluates the veteran during the call. The Telecare RN provides clinical advice in accordance with VISN approved Veterans Health Gateway protocols directing the veteran for care based on their symptoms, past medical history, and level of urgency employing critical thinking and knowledge based nursing judgment. The Telecare nurse demonstrates technical competency in the use of telephone systems and computer applications, maintaining certification in appointment management and scheduling appointments appropriately.
