Responsibilities and Requirements : Provides leadership in setting goals and objectives for the Planning Division particularly in the review and processing of development proposals; assists the Planning Division Manager with managing the daily operations of the division, assumes full responsibility during manager absences, and oversees a broad range of special projects; performs other duties as assigned.Work PerformedAssists with managing the daily operations of the Planning Division, interpretation and implementation of policy regarding the review and processing of development proposals; develops and implements goals and objectives; exercises considerable discretion in the interpretation of plans, policies, and regulations; provides policy direction to supervisory, professional, and others resolving difference; assists with performance evaluation of supervisory staff; serves as Planning Division Manager during manager's absences.Advises and confers with senior managers, City Council, boards, and various interest groups over community development planning projects, resolves differences and complex issues concerning land use, zoning, building development, historic preservation, environmental impact and other planning matters; responds to inquiries and requests for information.
