Responsibilities and Requirements : Work is performed outdoors and employee may be subject to unfavorable weather conditions and insects. Work is performed under direct supervision and is reviewed while in progress and upon completion through observations, discussions, andresults obtained.Work PerformedPropagates plants from seeds, cuttings, layering, and grafting; maintains propagation and step-up logs.Arranges collections for effective display by removing substandard plants and planting new ones as needed.Prepares soils with appropriate nutrients and fills beds for planting; assists in soil testing.Prepares and dispenses fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides to enhance development and destroy undesirable growth and pests.Prunes plants and trims shrubs to enhance development which involves reaching, kneeling, crawling, bending, and stooping.Reads and interprets sensing indicators and regulates humidity, ventilation, and other environmental conditions in the greenhouses.
