Responsibilities: Leadership The Associate Director (Federal Contracts Focus) of the Association for Institutional Research () is a senior leader of the Association and reports to the Executive Director. The successful candidate will join the CFO, three other Associate Directors, and the Executive Director as the senior leaders for the Association. has a large contract to provide training for higher education professionals who supply data to the Federal Government about colleges and universities. Specifically, provides face-to-face and web-based training to support institutional researchers who contribute to, and/or use, these data. Fifty independent consultants of assist in developing the training materials and delivering the workshops. The Associate Director will coordinate these trainers and a team of 3“ 4 full-time project managers and support staff. In addition, the Associate Director will provide leadership for the /NCES National Summer Data Policy Institute. This week long training program in Washington, D.C. trains 50 or more doctoral students and institutional research professionals in the use of national higher education data for dissertations and research projects. The scale and scope of the contract make this position an exciting and challenging leadership opportunity. Contract Deliverables The training contract that the Associate Director will oversee requires that all deliverable products be completed on time, in the quantities specified, and with high quality. Under the contract the Associate Director and the staff are responsible for tracking deliverables, creating timelines for completion of each, and providing oversight for the quality of final products. Communications with the Higher Education Community The Associate Director will have a high profile in the national higher education field. The collection and use of Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) data is an important function of colleges and universities. Many institutions need to improve their use of these data for internal benchmarking and reaccreditation self studies. The Associate Director will communicate with several thousand higher education professionals regarding training opportunities, grants, and professional development opportunities“ all services that are provided at no cost to participants. Association Management As a senior leader of , the Associate Director will engage in a wide range of Association management and budget decisions (e.g. hiring staff, evaluating new opportunities, writing grants and reports), supporting the Board of Directors). The Associate Director will supervise at least three staff members and serve as advisor on a number of staff leadership teams. Other Duties The Associate Directors portfolio will include other leadership roles based on his/her experience and interest. The position may have oversight for Human Resources, play a significant role in leading the annual conference, perform oversight of physical resources, etc. In addition to the leadership role for the IPEDS contract, this position will contribute to the overall growth and stability of the Association. The final job duties of the position will be shaped around the skills and interests of the individual. Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be a seasoned manager with direct higher education experience. Additionally, the ideal candidate will see this opportunity as a long-term commitment to a non-profit organization and higher education management as a career field. Both a graduate degree and prior experience supervising employees and managing large projects are required. Experience in national projects is highly desirable. Public speaking and excellent oral and writing skills are required. .
