Responsibilities : An employee assigned to this classification is responsible for the administrative and technical maintenance of an inspection team, which operates as code enforcement for developed properties. Work is performed under the supervision of the construction manager and performance is reviewed through critiques of decisions made and results obtained on a daily basis.Work PerformedMonitors a team of 4-8 field representatives responsible for maintaining an inspection record of developed properties and/or contract work.Mediates disputes and complaints of citizens, developers, and contractors; investigates complaints and recommends appropriate action.Manages the administration of all job related correspondence via letters, memos, meetings and phone calls.Monitors progress and quality of construction to ensure minimal loss of time and material to the City.Participates in construction project organization and progress meetings.Evaluates job performance of field representatives in relation to timeliness, quality and accuracy.Informs field representatives of changes in building codes, policies and procedures which affect their job performance.Prepares monthly code enforcement status reports.Approves final acceptance of completed projects.Performs other duties as needed to facilitate the accomplishment of departmental goals and objectives

Requirements :.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of engineering practices and design concepts.Knowledge of materials testing procedures.Skilled in the operation of motor vehicles.Skilled in performing standard materials testing.Skilled in the operation of personal computers, which may involve sitting for long periods.Ability to perform detailed inspections, editing and reading.Ability to stand and walk for long periods.Ability to measure quantities.Ability to traverse field construction sites, which may involve frequent bending and stooping.Ability to read prints and interpret specifications and codes.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Ability to supervise subordinates.Ability to negotiate with contractors and developers.QualificationsAssociate of Arts Degree in engineering technology. A minimum of five (5) years experience in the area of construction management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. SBC and ALI Certification required.
