Job Responsibilities:



Malcolm Pirnie, Inc. seeks an environmental engineer for its Phoenix, Arizona location. Utilizing EPANET, EPANET Toolkit with C++, and WaterCAD and other advanced commercial modeling software such as WaterGEMS, InfoWater, InfoWorks, SWMM, H2OMap/Net, TEVA-SPOT, HAMMER, conducts hydraulic/hydrologic analysis of water distribution systems and pressurized networks. Conducts research in distribution system water quality. Conducts network modeling including model calibration and disinfectant and disinfection by-products distribution modeling. Develops water quality sampling strategies and conducts field testing. Conducts and prepares plans for water quality sampling and field tests such as fire hydrant tests.



Develops, calibrates, and verifies water distribution models using WaterCAD/GEMS, InfoWater, H2OMap/Net. Prepares probabilistic modeling & statistical analysis of distribution systems for water-security applications. Conducts master planning, including: 1) vulnerability analysis; 2) water quality modeling including water age analysis, source trace analysis, tank mixing, 3) water security related analysis for capital improvement planning and sensor network design; and 4) water quality optimization, including operational analysis and optimization of pumping stations, storage tanks, reservoirs, and distribution system facilities, and cost estimation.



Conducts water quantity modeling of distribution systems including system capacity and prediction of water demand. Utilizes GIS software such as ArcGIS to interpret and present model results in graphical format and utilize GIS-based modeling tools for demand allocation, network optimization, and network criticality analysis. Performs research in water distribution system topics including water quality for organizations such as AWWA and Water Research Foundation. Prepares reports and technical memoranda within established schedules and budgets, develops scope of work and budget estimates. Mentors junior modeling staff. EOE.



Job Qualifications:



Master’s (all coursework and requirements completed) (or foreign equivalent) in Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering and six months of experience in job offered or as engineer or graduate research assistant. Employer will accept six months of experience in any single title or six months of experience in any combination of these titles. For experience to substitute, must include six months of experience in: 1) hydraulic analysis of water distribution systems utilizing EPANET, and EPANET Toolkit with C++, WaterCAD ; 2) modeling of distribution systems including system capacity, prediction of water demand, water age analysis, source trace analysis, and tank mixing; 3) Probabilistic modeling and statistical analysis of distribution systems for water security applications.
