Services include a full service pediatric hospital, Level I Trauma Center and extensive outreach and telemedicine initiatives.
Our location in Burlington, Vermont, on the shores of Lake Champlain and within sight of the Green Mountains, offers year round recreational opportunities. The area is home to four institutions of higher learning, as well as numerous businesses large and small.
We currently have an opportunity available for a Clinical Ethicist. The Clinical Ethics Consultation service is very active, performing approximately 100 consults each year. In addition, as the only ethics program in the state of Vermont, we provide consultative assistance and educational programming for other hospitals and health care organizations in the state. A major emphasis of the position is ongoing education of nearly 300 residents and over 400 medical students as well as other staff. The Clinical Ethicist also participates in policy development, research, and interdisciplinary projects in health policy and bioethical issues. A portion of the Clinical Ethicist’s time will be dedicated to consultation within the Clinical and Translational Science Center.
Applicants for this position must have a graduate degree (doctorate preferred) in ethics or related field, or completed a fellowship in clinical ethics. Clinical background is preferred, as is experience in research ethics.
