Responsibilities and Requirements : Under the general supervision of a Senior Environmental Planner, the Associate Environmental Planner is responsible for the environmental review of Local Assistance projects in the nine counties of San Francisco Bay Area (Caltrans District 4). The incumbent will attend selected field reviews where local agencies explain the project in detail and will concur with or recommend the required technical studies. The Associate Environmental Planner will gather, research, and analyze social, natural, and environmental data for review and processing of environmental documents considering the impacts of transportation projects as mandated by Federal and State laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Applications will be screened, interviews may be held. District 4 Internal hire only.This position is subject to the Caltrans Internal Hiring Freeze requirements. Preference will be given to hires from within Caltrans and/or persons with State Restriction of Appointment (SROA) or Surplus status.
