Responsibilities : The Protein Assays and Technology Initiative at is involved in developing a wide range of cutting edge protein analysis technologies for use by Life Sciences researchers in pharmaceutical companies, academia and government institutions. The Department at Sigma-Aldrich is seeking experienced and motivated candidates for a full-time Scientist position at our R&D facility in St. Louis. The successful candidate will work in a project-focused environment and be part of an active, multidisciplinary group of scientists responsible for the design and development of novel products within the areas of immunochemistry and general proteomic disciplines. include performing laboratory experiments to support new product development, preparing research reports and related documents, literature and patent reviews, and maintenance of departmental facilities.

Requirements :This position requires a M.S. in Biochemistry, Biology, Systems Biology or a related discipline or an B.S. degree with equivalent (3-5 yr) research experience. A solid background in protein chemistry and assay development is essential. Strong preference will be given to individuals with experience in protein expression, purification, and characterization. Desirable additional strengths include one or more of the following areas: organic chemistry (bioconjugation), high throughput screening of biomolecules, mass spectrometry based protein identification and quantification, glycomic or other PTM analysis. This individual must be highly motivated and creative with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organizational and computer skills are also vital for success.
