Responsibilities and Requirements : Master degree in Library Science from an ALA-Accredited programInternet search skillsKnowledge and experience with an automated system (Horizon software preferred), Microsoft Office, WindowsPrevious professional library work experience, including supervisory responsibilitiesGood communication skills, oral and writtenAbility to supervise staff and organize work prioritiesAbility to accomplish objectives in a team settingPrimary DutiesActs as working supervisor of Branch activities, in the absence of the Branch managerSupervises reference staff, including scheduling and evaluationPerforms other work as neededProvides reference and reader advisory services, including online computer searching and instructionPlans and implements services to meet community needs, including exhibits, programs and trainingMaintains an awareness of professional trends, methods and ethicsPerforms Collection Development for an assigned area, including evaluation, selecting, weeding, relocating and publicizing items in print, audio-visual or electronic formatsAssists in budget development to meet unit and system goalsAttends and participates in professional activities, conferences, and committeesImplements and interprets library policies for library users and staffMaintains current awareness of automated circulation system.
