Responsibilities : 6 month Contract A Temporary Research Associate position is available immediately to join and grow within the anti-bacterial research/discovery program at Vertex in the Department of Infectious Diseases. The job will include culture of Gram negative pathogenic bacteria and the study of experimental compounds using a variety of analytic techniques including LC/MS. The person will run microbiological assays, and should be comfortable with molecular biology experiments (such as cloning, PCR, SDS-PAGE, Western blots etc.). These functions will actively support ongoing anti-bacterial programs in the company. Critical to the role would be sound knowledge of microbiological, molecular biological techniques and work experience with bacterial pathogens. Although not essential, the job may also include making presentations at team meetings.The successful candidate will have the following qualities :Be attentive to detailWork conscious of deadlinesPerform good record maintenanceHave excellent communication and organizational skillsBe adaptable, willing to learn and scientifically curious.
