Responsibilities and Requirements : Description: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Maryland Chapter is currently seeking an energetic individual to provide donor development support and assistance. Based in our Hunt Valley office, this internship will provide a current graduate or undergraduate student with hands-on work experience in non-profit fundraising. The Development Intern will support the Development Director and Executive Director with chapter fundraising efforts including major gifts, foundations, clubs and organizations, and direct appeals. Duties include: Update and maintain Society database of donors and prospects Assist with large and small department mailings, including the appeals Assist in donor acknowledgement process Assist in foundation and donor prospect research Attend Society activities and community opportunities to spread the mission of the Society Assist with Web site content Design an organizational system for department records Assist in event planning, production and promotion (depending on the time line of the internship.) Perform other related duties as assigned by Development Director Candidate requirements include: Strong computer knowledge, including Word, Excel, and Internet research Excellent word processing and database management skills Strong oral and written communication skills Strong organizational skills and professional demeanor Strong interpersonal skills and judgment Ability to respond well to guidance and supervision, coupled with the ability to work independently as needed Interest in non-profit fundraising, management and health-related services a plus Commitment: 10 - 20 hours per week during business hours. Hours are flexible. The internship is unpaid - potential for class credit pending school approval.
