Responsibilities and Requirements : Corporate Counsel II ( Rates )The candidate will provide support to the head legal rates counsel and representation to California American Water in rate cases and regulatory matters. Will assist in the management and prosecution of rate cases. Assist in the maximization of quality, cost and efficiency of acquired outside legal services on rate cases and regulatory matters. Participate in judicial and administrative proceedings for specific items as required. Such matters include but are not limited to public utility commission rate cases and related mediations, hearings and other dispute resolution proceedings. Provide assistance with preparation of any required internal legal, risk management, or compliance reports. Maintain a high level of professional ethics, compliance, and continuing professional development. Negotiate, assist with preparation and review all contracts and other legal documents to ensure that the best interests of the business are protected. Assist in developing and implementing regulatory strategy and fostering positive working relationships with state utility commission staff. Assist in the formulation of corporate policies and procedures and compliance with such policies and procedures. Assist with corporate governance activities. Perform other projects as assigned by the Divisional General Counsel. Contribute to effective communication by listening and providing constructive feedback; supporting the creation of an open and honest work environment; cascading and sharing knowledge and information relevant to other members of the team and colleagues across the business.
