Responsibilities : The online division of the WorldCompany in Lawrence, Kansas,seeksa Web Designer to join our award-winning team as we build the next generationof interactive community news and information web sites.Web Designers develop wire frames and mock-up design optionsin support of project specifications and goals; code approved designs in Djangotemplates using industry and department best practices; participate incollaboratively researching, imagining and creating innovative interactive communitynews environments; stay up to date on the latest online possibilities andtrends; provide support for existing web site features; and in general takepart in a fast-paced, collaborative team building our new generation ofinteractive publishing tools and web sites.Our department has a long and outstanding history of opensource involvement -- we're the birthplace of Django -- has won numerous awardsfor online excellence and is, in short, home to one of the best web teamsanywhere. Requirements :Ideal candidates will have two years web design experience;a highly developed sense of visual communication and user experience design; asolid understanding of interactive online communications; ability to solveproblems and learn quickly; ability to work with a team and meet deadlines;high proficiency in HTML and CSS; experience with dynamic template languages;experience designing for the mobile webpreferred;experience developing user experiences with Javascript. Prior knowledge and experiencewith Python and Django, Django templates, jQuery and Ellington a plus.
