Responsibilities : The primary purpose of thisposition is to provide supervision, counseling, safety and support toyouth who are in the physical custody of the Dept. of Juvenile Justice& Delinquency Prevention. A person employed as a Youth ServicesCounselor Technician shall maintain written and electronic recordsrelated to the behavior of youth under his/her supervision, assess theprogress of the youth in their assigned programs, and communicateinformation to co- workers on other shifts. This is a repost.Previous applicants remain under consideration and need not reapply.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesThe primary purpose of this position is to provide supervision,counseling, safety and support to youth who are in the physicalcustody of the Dept. of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention. Aperson employed as a Youth Services Counselor Technician shallmaintain written and electronic records related to the behavior ofyouth under his/her supervision, assess the progress of the youth intheir assigned programs, and communicate information to co-workers onother shifts.

Requirements :Graduation from a two-year associate degree program in human servicesfield, i.e.: criminal justice, sociology, education or childdevelopment and one year of experience in providing support servicesor instruction to children and youth, related human servicesexperience or have one year of law enforcement or correctionalexperience preferably with youth populations; or graduation from highschool and two years of experience providing human services support orformal instruction to children and youth or two years of lawenforcement experience or correctional experience with youthpopulations; or a four-year college degree in human services,criminal justice, sociology, education or child development; or anequivalent combination of training and experience.
