Research Technician - (US-NY-New York - 10292) Minimum Education: None Job Type: Full Time Email this job to yourself or to a friend | Job Match Test | Resume Guide Click Here to Apply Online Responsibilities and Requirements : This open position provides an opportunity to join an active research laboratory and conduct molecular biology research in the new and vibrant area of MicroRNAs and Stem Cell Differentiation. Specifically, the work will involve cutting edge investigations into the interaction of miRNAs with signal transduction networks. MicroRNAs are a recently discovered set of genetic elements that are transforming our understanding of how cells differentiate and/or become cancer cells. The ideal candidate should have a career goal of PhD or MD and be willing to make a minimum 2 year commitment to research.Types of activities the Research Technician will perform include plasmid DNA preparations and genomic cloning, subcloning, preparation of plasmid vectors, full length cDNA cloning and Southern, Northern and Western Blotting. In addition, the incumbent will be taught DNA microarray and Affymetrix array hybridization protocols. Prior knowledge of these techniques is beneficial, but not essential. Additional types of procedures to be used include Real Time RCR and Oligonuleotide gene knockout protocols.Plasmid DNA preparations and genomic cloning, subcloning, preparation of plasmid vectors, full length DNA cloning, and Southern, Northern and Western Blotting. Will perform DNA microarray techniques.Computer data analysis.Other related duties as assigned.
