Responsibilities : The City of Galt is seeking individuals who can successfully assist the Galt Police Department in achieving its goal of providing a safe and secure environment for the community. Officers perform a wide variety of patrol and related duties involving the prevention of crime, the protection of life and property and the enforcement of laws and ordinances; investigations, prepare reports, assist in the preparation of cases and testify in court.The City of Galt Police Department has thirty-seven full time exployees and an annual budget of $4 million. The police department has a new state-of-the-art facility. The department fields a number of units including: uniformed patrol, traffic enforcement, investigations, canines, dispatch, records, community service officers, CAPS volunteers, evidence, and crime prevention. Each area works closely with neighboring police agencies. The department fosters good working relationships between police staff and the community.NOTE: Please do not apply for this position unless you meet the minimum qualifications listed in the ideal candidate description below. If you do not have one year of law enforcement experience in the state of California and have not satisfactorily completed a probationary period as a law enforcement officer, you will not qualify for this position. Requirements : Successful completion of a California Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) approved Academy. The P.O.S.T. Academy certificate must be submitted at the time of application. 2. One year of law enforcement experience in the state of California. 3. Must have satisfactorily completed a probationary period as a law enforcement officer. 4. Must possess and maintain a valid California driver license. 5. Must be able to pass extensive background investigation and physical examination.
