Senior Manager of Finance



Department Overview:

The Chief Accountants Department is responsible for providing financial accounting advisory support to the Business Units and Corporate Areas on complex accounting issues related to structured transactions, consolidation, hedge accounting and valuations. This includes the development and maintenance of strong working relationships with various internal stakeholders within the Bank.





Job Description:

The position is responsible for providing financial accounting advisory support to the Wholesale Bank segment of the Bank. The individual must be able to undertake/lead accounting advisory issues at a senior level. They will be required to work closely with key business partners in these areas to advise on accounting and financial reporting matters relating to complex accounting issues. The incumbent will also be involved in working on other accounting issues as required. The individual must have in-depth knowledge of all relevant accounting standards that carry a high level of complexity. In specific, knowledge in the application of Financial Instruments (CICA 3855) and Securitizations (FAS 140 – AcG-12) and Consolidations (including FIN 46 – AcG-15) are imperative.



The individual will be responsible for:

Providing accounting advice on complex accounting issues to the Wholesale Bank segment of the Bank

Preparing internal presentations discussing the accounting issues and their resolution

Documenting, through accounting memos, the accounting guidance provided

Managing relationships internally with other internal client partners

Managing relationships with external auditors on specific accounting issues

Assisting on accounting implementation (from an accounting advisory perspective) once the proposed transaction has closed

Fostering a positive and rewarding work environment for the Chief Accountants Department and the client’s Finance team





Education/Accreditations:

Chartered Accountant designation

Chartered Financial Analyst (preferred)

IFRS experience (preferred)



Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

Strong accounting background with relevant technical experience

Strong knowledge of financial products such as derivatives and securities

Previous experience in financial institutions, preferably banks and capital markets

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with Senior Management

Excellent project management, analytical and problem-resolution and consensus building skills

Must be able to think conceptually (“out-of-the-box”) and have a high degree of attention for detail

Proactive and highly motivated individual who will take the initiative and who can work independently and in a team environment

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects

Should be able to develop good business relationships with “internal clients” and be able to work with minimal supervision in an unstructured and fast-paced environment
