Responsibilities : Public Health Technician I Performs highly technical and efficient telephone customer service by receiving and screening requests and arranging and authorizing services in an automated system for the Medical Transportation Program including meals and/or lodging and up-front funds. Work is fast paced in a call center environment. Involves contact with Medicaid clients, advocates, contractors, medical providers, the general public and clients of other programs. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.Essential Job Functions:Receives multiple telephone requests to authorize and arrange travel, meals and lodging services. Determines reasonable and most cost-effective mode (s) of transportation suitable to recipients medical and transportation needs, using automated system and other tools. Authorizes and arranges timely contracted services for local/long distance trips, urgent trips, and overnight/out-of-town trips, to include airfare, ground transportation, mileage reimbursement, up-front gas funds, lodging and meals.

Requirements :Initial Selection Criteria:Graduation from high school or equivalent plus four years experience in a call center environment and/or customer service experience in a call center environment. Recent (within 12 months) experience in call center preferred. Bilingual preferred. College education may be substituted on a year per year basis.Additional Information:Call center environment. Expected to work in a sitting position for extended periods of time. Headsets are used for answering calls. Expected to communicate clearly and effectively.
