Responsibilities and Requirements : Working in a team under the general direction of the Research Scientist Supervisor I, Chief, Surveillance and Case Investigations Unit, Occupational Lead Poisoning Prevention Program the RSII participates in multidisciplinary surveillance, research, and educational efforts of the program. is a statewide program which provides comprehensive and effective public health lead poisoning prevention activities including identifying and providing follow-up to lead poisoned workers; developing and providing training to workers, employers, and medical providers; and collecting and analyzing information on where and how lead poisoning occurs in California industry. The RSII is responsible for the day-to-day operations of an electronic surveillance system, acting as technical lead to support staff performing import and triage (for case management) of electronic records; analyzes problems and suggests appropriate corrections; performs data analysis and quality control operations for complex relational database system. Plans and carries out independent and collaborative, specialized epidemiologic research projects of moderate scope and complexity which identify the source(s) of workplace lead poisoning in California; prevent or control its occurrence; and/or measure the effectiveness of interventions. vary with each project but may include planning, designing, and managing subject recruitment and follow-up; data collection and analysis; reporting of results; and preparing presentations. The job is located in Richmond, CA and is a full-time position. Applications will be screened and only the most qualified candidates will be interviewed.
