The successful candidate will be experienced with wireless technologies and specifically with an understanding of the system determination and acquisition technologies that reside in handsets and other wireless devices. The candidate should also be able to assess these technologies from the perspective of business objectives and strategies, and not just a technical standpoint.
The candidate will be a member of the Terminal Certification Lab and, as such, will develop, maintain and execute the test plans pertaining to system determination on PCS product portfolio. He/she will also contribute to the development of processes, methodologies, testing techniques and product development.
Roles/Responsibilities:
Conduct the execution of system determination test cases in a lab environment;
Develop and evolve the test plans pertaining to terminals, especially regarding system determination and acquisition;
Contribute to the development and evolution of testing methodologies - execution, verification/validation, reporting (e.g. automation, centralized issue management);
Contribute to the development and evolution of the processes and procedures required to integrate with multiple functional groups;
Assist in the early evaluation of candidate handsets for suitability in entering the certification cycle;
Stay current with testing methodologies and standards relating to the wireless industry;
Support the development, management and maintenance of roaming lists;
Support the troubleshooting of handset/terminal roaming issues;
Assess and prepare test materials relating to new technologies identified as necessary for implementing new service offerings;
Operate computers, servers, test equipment, diagnosis software and test automation software, as applicable to the execution of the test plans and methodologies.
Qualifications:
University degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science/Telecommunications;
Minimum of two (2) years experience in the wireless telecommunications industry, preferably in the CDMA environment;
Experience with wireless network emulators (preferably experience with Agilent 8960, Aeroflex 6204 and/or Anritsu MT8820);
Experience automating test cases using Visual Basic .NET, Visual C++, National Instruments Visa, GPIB and/or Spirent Communications UTS considered highly beneficial;
Good understanding of client/server technologies;
Strong research, analysis and troubleshooting skills;
Excellent multitasking skills for participating in concurrent projects in a cross-functional team environment;
Knowledge of wireless standards bodies (e.g., CDG, OMA, 3GPP, 3GPP2);
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Strong technical writing skills highly desirable;
Experience in working with terminal and/or infrastructure vendors;
Desire to learn and work in a continuously fast-changing environment;
Well-organized and detailed-oriented person;
Self-motivated, challenge-driven individual.
