Online IT DBA Director
The Online IT DBA Director is a part of our Client’s IT organization, and will be responsible for managing the Online IT DBA team. The IT Director will provide vision, business partnership, delivery and team leadership skills needed to deliver world-class, timely IT solutions and services that meet our Client’s business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership / Organizational Responsibilities-
• Lead a team that provides solution services, project SME expertise, analysis and L3 production support to customers
• Promotes a strong combination of functional leadership, technical expertise and business process skills across the team.
• Provide mentoring, coaching, staff appraisals, career patching and escalation support to a staff
• Collaborates and maintains working relationships with appropriate technology vendor contacts and peer company contacts globally
• Perform special projects and departmental initiatives as needed
Solution Delivery / Support-
• Responsible for providing world-class project delivery and “always on” support services
• Drives continuous service improvement; define/execute roadmaps, drive efficiencies, standardization of processes and methodologies
• Drives and leads solution design services, functional and technical design leadership.
Basic Qualifications-
• BS or MS in Computer Management Information Systems or other related degree
• 12-15 years experience with managing an online production based DBA team
• Must have 10 years of direct program/project delivery experience with highly available Oracle 9i, 10G, MySQL, and MS SQL databases
• Management experience with technical delivery teams in business-facing roles is highly desirable
• Must be able to manage and influence on and off-shore development, integration, and quality assurance teams. Experience working with global distributed teams
• Must be able to work with business stakeholders to understand and shape business requirements and demand
• Financial acumen to manage and adhere to plans, budgets and variances within the IT function.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high volume, deadline-driven environment
Technical Qualifications:
• Manage the operation of multiple large scale databases with transactions rates of more than 1,000 transactions per second
• Manage multiple production database clusters with the goal of 100% uptime
• Ability to manage a customer facing gaming platform
• Manage DBA team in US and abroad
• Provide oversight for database schema design and architectural decisions
• Implement effective monitoring of database environments
• Manage the replication of database clusters in multiple data centers with bi-directional, high-throughput replication
