This RF Measurement Engineer organizes, leads, and documents detailed measurements of radar systems and other RF systems in support of verification testing and special measurements. The Measurement Engineer provides the specialized measurements and engineering assistance needed to resolve complex equipment performance issues.
This position involves both work in a typical office environment, as wells as a field setting with routine travel to remote work locations.
You will lead the measurements process for verification and special measurements and write measurement reports. Interface with customers and analysts to understand test requirements. Schedule and conduct meetings prior to the start of measurements and at the conclusion of measurements with the stakeholders. Develop measurement lists complete with expected values, source references or engineering rationale, tolerances, test and injection points and special measurement techniques. Research documents and develop sound engineering rationale to obtain specified values and tolerances for measurements. Consult with the system engineers to identify test points for the measurements. Provide engineering support to technicians with the measurements. Ensure the technical validity of the measurement techniques. Analyze and review measurement data as it is collected to confirm it is within the specifications. Provide status updates to Program Managers, Measurement Manager, and the other personnel as required. Write briefings summarizing the measurement effort. Coordinate with system technicians and system engineers to ensure there are no inconsistencies between system checks and the verification measurements. Write measurement reports showing an analysis of the measurements and data, and identifying any failure to meet expected values. Generate block diagrams identifying injection points, test points, and other pertinent data making the measurement repeatable. Develop and review new measurement techniques and refine current measurement techniques. The Measurement Engineer will assist in testing and verifying new software. Keep measurement guides and other processes documents current by adding improved measurement techniques and new measurements or processes as required. Update hardware and software configuration documents.
Minimum Requirements
A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field and 8 years of related engineering experience. Advanced degree preferred.
Thorough understanding of measurement techniques and operating test equipment including spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, pulse generators, and oscilloscopes. Understand and be able to effectively apply a broad spectrum of radar theory, data analysis, detailed circuit operation, and fault isolation techniques.
Experience with radar transmitters and receivers, RF/IF and microwave systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to present technical information in a concise, easily understood format to management, customers, and other stakeholders.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
