The City of Edwardsville, Kansas is accepting applications from certified law enforcement officers to fill current and future Police Officer position(s).
Certified Officer Incentives: Certified officer incentives are dependent upon each candidate’s continuous years of law enforcement experience. Certified officers with road patrol experience with a minimum two (2) years continuous service in law enforcement are eligible for prior service credit. The incentives include higher placement on the salary scale, a one-time bonus payment, and consideration for higher leave hour accrual rates.
To qualify, candidates must possess fulltime certification as a peace officer in the State of Kansas, or be eligible for reciprocity from another state.
Dependent upon experience and qualifications, certified candidates with between two (2) and five (5) years patrol experience will be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $2,500.00. Candidates with five (5) or more years patrol experience will be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $3,500.00.
Starting salary, DOE: 2 Years $41,207, 3 Years $42,444, 4 Years $43,717, 5+ Years $45,028
Annual salary progression: 3% steps with a 7-step matrix.
Holiday pay: 10 paid holidays annually.
Holiday Worked Pay: Paid at time and a half in addition to Holiday Pay.
Overtime: Overtime paid for physical work in excess of 40 hours/week.
Education incentive pays includes:
Associate’s Degree $900.00/Yr, Bachelor’s Degree $1,200.00/Yr, Master’s Degree $1,650.00/Yr
Specialty pays include:
Range Master $900.00/year, Field Training Officer $700.00/year, Foreign Language Proficiency $700.00/year, DARE Officer $700.00/year, and Investigative Lead $1200.00/year

The Edwardsville Police Department is a progressive, community-oriented police department situated in a growing community South of I-70 and West of I-435 in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Minimum Qualifications: Twenty one years of age at time of appointment; high school diploma or GED; possess current peace officer certification, or eligibility for reciprocity; good physical condition; no domestic violence, felony convictions, or other disqualifiers.
