Pole To Win America, Inc. seeks a Senior Audio Engineer in Marina Del Rey, CA

Responsibilities:
• Responsible for audio and video engineering including games dialogue and head-mounted camera recording sessions, using Pro Tools audio software and hardware, a multitude of microphones, head-mounted cameras, and Final Cut Pro video editing software.
• Utilizes a bespoke audio recording tool developed by SIDE called “Transport Café,” and a bespoke audio recording tool developed by one of SIDE’s clients called “VADA.”
• Responsible for the technological aspect of all materials that come out of SIDE LA, and of training and managing two other audio engineers.
• Functions as a key liaison to report and workout all new bugs found among the developers of the bespoke software recording tools, SIDE and clients.
• Monitors and maintains the technical studio equipment and IT systems, as well as creates new systems and provides training the engineers who report to him, as well as freelancers, on these systems.
• Oversees head camera set-up, including setting up all relevant camera lighting for game dialogue production.
• Responsible for editing the capture of video files and the audio quality assurance of recorded and edited audio, and transcodes for each client’s needs.
• Edits and QAs audio recorded in the SIDE LA studio, using audition software and a bespoke tool created by SIDE called “Nifty Scripty.”
• Directs acting talent auditions and plays a key role in the casting of acting talent for computer games. Directs game dialogue sessions and actor’s performance, using bespoke tools created by SIDE, such as a “Director Tracker”.
• Liaises and coordinates with SIDE’s technical and creative teams.
• Educates and trains new members of SIDE LA’s audio technical team in the technical workflows and practices employed by SIDE, including the use of bespoke software not available on the open market. Responsible for educating and training new members of SIDE LA’s casting and talent directing team in the character performances and quality of acting talent aimed for by SIDE.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Music Technology, Audio Engineering or related field and five (5) years progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as an Audio Engineer or a related role.

• Experience with:
o Recording dialogue on various location and at on mocap stages; multi-microphone setup to record ensemble cast;
o preparation and running of audio dialogue replacement (ADR) sessions; operating Pro Tools, Reaper, Logic, Nuendo and other digital audio workstations (DAWs);
o Remote voice recording setup and running e.g. via Skype, Source Connect, ISDN; Microphone recording techniques;
o using audio editing software, in particular Adobe Audition;
o broadcast/media industry video standards e.g. codecs, frame rates, frame sizes;
o video encoding and transcoding; timecode implementation; and
o workflows location sound e.g. recording sync sound on set or at real world locations.
