TOOLING PROCESS ENGINEER-Rockport, MA

Small divisional, rapidly expanding plant of global company needs tooling engineer to help in product creation, design and set ups for medical device manufacturing.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• The Process/Tooling Engineer maintains complete and accurate records of assigned project activities coordinating tooling, product design and molding processes.
• Plans and organizes project time lines for assigned projects using established APQP Project Management tools.
• Advises management of any cost related issues for assigned projects.
• Generates and maintains documentation for all internal processes, inspection criteria, Bill of Materials and other manufacturing and quality records.
• Conceptualizes and develops lean manufacturing processes for new and existing business opportunities, which may include new and/or modified plant, equipment and process needs. Utilization of Kaizen events.
• Supports production on injection molding of materials and processes, assembly and packaging processes, as well as troubleshooting production issues.
• Interfaces with customers and suppliers on tooling project matters, mold and fixture design, process capability studies, product quality issues, and executes on automation related projects.
• Aids with short- and long-term planning for capital expenditures relating to future production requirements; leads projects involving new capital.
• Identifies and initiates projects to improve productivity and reduce scrap/reject rates.
• Conduct internal audits and assists with maintaining the QA System.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering-plastics or mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years working as a product/process/project or manufacturing engineer.
• Experience in medical device or medical products. LSR desired.
• Technical experience developing injection molding of thermoplastic products.
• Experience in tooling and mold design and injection press mechanics.
• CAD experience and SolidWorks a plus. APQP desired.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, and presentation skills.
• Familiarity with statistical problem solving techniques.
• Knowledgeable in Lean Systems and Six Sigma methodology.
• Strong interaction skills, self motivated.
