DUTIES:
• Responsible for providing technical leadership to the process engineering function at the facility, supervising and leading the Process Engineers and Technicians.
• Key position within the engineering group is the molding process expert for the development and optimization of new molding processes.
• Coordinate APQP process to achieve the flawless launch of new products and processes to production.
• Provide leadership in continuous improvement activities in all areas of the plant operations including awareness of best-practice tooling, process and equipment, which may exist either within the company or outside of the company.
• Supervise and lead the process engineering function to develop and produce lean, robust manufacturing processes in accordance with the overall goal of flawless launch of new products to production.
• Represent the company as the lead molding process technical expert to both internal and external customers and provide leadership during molding trials and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Provide leadership and training in troubleshooting and root-cause analysis efforts related to product, tooling and process issues.
• Maintain working knowledge of new molding technologies in order to improve operations and reduce waste.
• Advise management of project or process issues which may impact profit, schedule, costs, customer relations and/or inter-departmental relations.
• Participate in the development of an internal system with procedures for planned/predictive maintenance (PM) of tooling.
• Travel to customer and supplier facilities as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
•4 year degree-BS Plastic Eng, BS Chem Eng, BSME, etc.
•Must have knowledge of scientific molding principles and resin characteristics.
•Must have experience with high cavitation, tightly tolerance thermoplastic injection molding.
•Must have knowledge of RJG and/or Priamus control/monitoring systems.
•Knowledge of various runner configurations (conventional, semi-hot, open, valve gate, etc.).
•Knowledge/experience in executing and reviewing mold flow analysis.
•Ability to understand engineering drawings, CAD models, tool & mold designs.
