Application Engineer -

Description:Engineer - Automation and Control

A client needs a person to support their Automation and Control product offering (e.g. PLCs, HMis, Drives, contactors, etc) to meet and exceed growth objectives by engaging with our field sales management and sales personnel to:

-Establish and maintain product specification acceptability
-Provide pre-sale and post-sale product application support
-Create and conduct formal and informal training sessions (including company personnel, distributor personnel and customers)
-Provide technical assistance during product installation and start-up

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

A. Work with end users and consultants in assigned area resulting in their Control & Automation product acceptability in the marketplace.
B. Act as a subject matter expert on the Automation & Control industry including market dynamics (competitors product offering and their market strategy)
C. Problem solving and solution focused skills are essential to this position.
D. Influence customers by establishing a mastery of their requirements and have the customer develop a comfort level in positions capabilities.
E. Must have a working knowledge of major industrial networks such as: Modbus, Modbus TCP, DeviceNet, Ethernet and Profibus.
F. Proven track record in design, layout, and installation of industrial automation systems.
G. Work environment requires this person to be motivated and a self-starter.
H. Other basic skills that are required include exceptional presentation, training, interpersonal, and time management skills.
I. Provide technical support and guidance to co-workers (e.g. marketing and sales personnel).
J. Provide personal and customer feedback ideas for existing and new products in support of product lines product roadmapping and development process.
K. As required, support new product launches to our field sales organization, distribution channel and customers.
L. Support segment strategies as defined by the division.
M. Stay abreast of key industry trends by participating in key industry associations.

Qualifications: a BS Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Computer). Other requirements include:

A. Product Knowledge - Has a command of advantages, features and disadvantages of our products and our competitors products enabling us to offer the most effective solutions and/or applications.
B. Time Management Skills - Has the ability to prioritize steps and meet obligations.
C. Presentation/Training Skills - Has the ability to enlighten and educate in keeping with his/her audiences technical abilities and energy level.
D. Competitive Knowledge - Has in-depth market/industry knowledge.
