ETL/Informatica Developer - (US-NY-New York)

Position Objective:
Review and understand business data requirements for data warehousing projects, applications and Business Intelligence (BI)/Business Objects (BO) Reporting Systems and perform data analysis and data administration activities such as creation of data dictionaries, data transformations, assess data quality and recommend data quality improvements, identify data augmentation and data integration required to support the corporate projects, define data mart specifications etc.

Review and understand business data related ETL requirements for database, application and reporting projects. Develop and make enhancement on new and existing data systems.
Participate in the development plans and resource estimation for task planning.
Assist with the development of logical data models.

Develop ETL functional design specifications from and to source and target data stores or as a support for various applications. Work with application development teams from initial specification drafting through implementation;
Create ETL specifications;

Develop Informatica ETL Workflows. Develop ETL code both in Informatica and at the shell script level.

Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of ETL concepts especially as applied to Informatica.
Strong knowledge of data analysis, data transformation, conceptual data modeling, data transformation and metadata management.
Strong knowledge of data design for various applications.
Good knowledge of SQL.
Good knowledge of various RDBMS, Mainframe, Unix.
Good knowledge of Project Life Cycles methodologies.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education and Experience: (Identify types and length of education and experience needed to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to accomplish the desired end results.)

Education: BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Computer Science or Information Management Systems.

Experience:
5 years + experience with Informatica.
3 years + shell scripting experience.
3 years + SQL query-writing experience.
1 year + experience with PowerCenter.
Experience working with and able to demonstrate knowledge of complex Informatica transformations.
Experience working with very large data sets in ETL projects.
Experience working on UNIX platforms - AIX.
Experience in ETL performance tuning /optimization;
Experience with the Informatica command line utilities;
Experience drafting ETL specifications;
Experience developing complex ETL mappings;
Track record communicating issues and follow-up through issue resolution;
