R & D Director

Our client a contract formulator and manufacturer of cosmetics, and skin care products is looking for a Director of Research and Development to join their team.This position will have direct communication with all customers on product development needs. internal communication with all departments, Sales, Quality Assurance, and Operations.


Basic Function: Directs efforts of R&D staff toward the successful introduction of new products (via out Clients) into the marketplace.


Responsibilities:

1.Directs and coordinates all product development activities.

2.Supervise and guide Managers and Senior Professionals in the
formulation of cosmetics, toiletries and OTC drug products.

3.Meet with Sales and Clients to elucidate new programs, whether they
are line extensions, new brands, promotions or entrepreneurial
efforts.

4.Provide Sales and/or Clients with estimated timelines, costs,
regulatory concerns and other guidance in the design of new
programs.

5.Hire and evaluate technical professionals engaged in product and
process development activities.

6.Maintain industry contacts through suppliers, trade organizations,
trade shows, and client visits.

7.Maintain a working knowledge of new raw materials and other
technology advances via literature, seminars and conferences.

8.Establish working policies and procedures as they relate to the
development of new products.

9.Issue statements on current items of client/public interest.
(i.e. letters, conversations and white papers on topics like animal testing, etc.

Qualifications:

1.Thorough knowledge of cosmetic and toiletry product development.

2.Bachelors degree in science and 15+ years experience.
