Academic Position in Molecular Pathology

University of Minnesota

The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Minnesota Medical School seeks a fulltime ABP board certified/eligible molecular pathologist. Candidates must have demonstrated ability in teaching and in scholarly productivity. Minimum requirements are an M.D or equivalent degree, eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Minnesota, board certified or board eligible in CP or AP/CP, completion of an ACGME-accredited pathology residency training and a molecular genetics pathology fellowship program.

This position will include molecular pathology work in the molecular diagnostics laboratory (including next generation sequencing oncology triage, testing, and interpretation) and COVID-19 molecular pathology work in collaboration with the departments Advanced Research Diagnostic Laboratory.

Candidates will also participate in medical student, resident and fellow education, and are encouraged to pursue a research program that leads to a national/international reputation of excellence. Clinical responsibilities, on-call duties and conferences are shared with other members of the molecular pathology faculty.

Academic time will be used to pursue scholarly work in the candidates area of specialty/research expertise. Preferred candidates will be active in their national organizations and foster an academic environment for medical students, residents, fellows and faculty.

The University of Minnesota is a large and diverse university and medical school with a large subspecialty practice plan of over 950 physicians and 1,600 health professionals, University of Minnesota Physicians. The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology is home to a large number of anatomic and clinical pathology faculty as well as many basic science faculty involved in research, undergraduate and graduate education. The department also has an ACGME approved residency program and eight ACGME approved fellowships.
