Program Director The University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work is accepting applications for a full-time, 12-month non-tenure faculty position as Director of the B.A.S.W. Program. The position is available May 1, 2008. Salary will be commensurate with experience. The assignment is on the Oakland campus in Pittsburgh. Rank is open based on experience and academic qualifications. Position focus: The Program Director is responsible for program administration of the BASW Program including both the Social Work Major (an upper division major at the University) and Social Work Minor (open to all University freshman through seniors). The Program Director chairs the BASW Program Committee; assists the Director of Admissions with Recruitment and Admissions; oversees BASW student orientation; assigns students to advisors; monitors students' academic performance and progress; conducts first-level academic reviews; develops student academic contracts; interfaces with various administrative units existing within the university; oversees coordination of the social work academic requirements for students living on the Civic Engagement and Service Learning Floor in Panther Hall: and establishes and maintains relationships with area colleges, universities and community colleges. The BASW Director is assigned full-time to the BASW Program and teaches in the program while also carrying an advising load of students. The Program Director, in conjunction with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, schedules courses; identifies ,, recits selecruts and provides orientation to part-time adjunct instructors. The Program Director also is a member of the administrative team that leads CSWE reaffirmation efforts and writes the BASW portion of the Strategic Plan for the University. The Program Director is responsible for identifying student learning outcomes for the Office of the Provost as well as designing and measuring General Education requirements of social work undergraduates for this same office. Academic Qualifications:   M.S.W. required; Ph.D. preferred. Experience:   2-4 years experience in program coordination in higher education setting preferred; teaching in social work or related field; familiarity with BASW curriculum, field, and CSWE Accreditation Standards preferred.            Letter of application with curriculum vitae may be sent to Dr. Lambert Maguire, Chair, Faculty Search Committee, School of Social Work, University of Pittsburgh, 2012 Cathedral of Learning, and Pittsburgh, PA, 15260.
