Our client operates a large machining facility in Tennessee. They are asking for a manager to lead their manufacturing engineering group supporting the operations for steel and aluminum machining.
• Direct & lead 4 Manufacturing Engineers, CNC Programmer, Continuous Improvement Engineer, EHS engineer, New Products Coordinator, Tool Designer, & 7 tool makers.
• Responsible for development & successful implementation of capital equipment plans, equipment/tooling improvements, and management of capital projects.
• Responsible for implementing manufacturing cell design and Kaizen facilitation in the machining areas.
• Responsible for supporting new product introductions.
• Ensure process capability by providing necessary resources to the shop floor including equipment, tooling, fixturing, gauging, methods, and processes.
• Develop machining processes.
Minimum requirements
• B.S. degree in the mechanical or manufacturing concentration. (Could depend on extensive machining process and equipment knowledge & experience). Minimum five years manufacturing engineering management experience in a similar environment.
• Knowledge and participation with Lean Manufacturing Principles (i.e. Kaizen, Kanban, SMED, Poka-Yoke, Standard Work, Process mapping, 5S, etc.)
• Extensive knowledge in machining processes of steel turning, grinding, gear cutting, heat treat, broaching & Aluminum milling, drilling, tapping.
• Extensive knowledge in machining equipment & tooling for above mentioned processes.
• Extensive knowledge in machined part design including geometric dimensioning, tolerances, & design for manufacturability.
