Responsibilities
Partial Job Description
1) Initiate, coordinate and manage all safety-related tasks & programs within the company
2) Develop safety policies and procedures to ensure company’s compliance with local, state and federal safety regulations
3) Provide leadership and direction to company’s safety committee to assure its effectiveness in planning and implementing safety initiatives that result in company-wide comprehensive safety programs and the attainment of worker safety and regulatory compliance
4) Ensure primary interface with any local, state or federal regulators who require the company to interact with them or who conduct regulatory or compliance audits/inspections on the company’s property
5) Design safety training programs for all levels of employees in order to develop a safety culture within the company
6) Ensure employees have knowledge of potential safety hazards and utilize the proper safety procedures to minimize risks and that the workers follow those safety procedures
7) Conduct site safety audits on a regular basis in order to identify & assess safety risks
8) Ensure proper procedures, documentation, equipment and training are in place so that safety hazards are minimized and all safety standards & regulations are met
9) Make recommendation to management regarding capital investment required to ensure compliance
10) Ensure all corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner
11) Ensure root cause analysis is conducted and corrective action is implemented to minimize recurrence in case of oversight of accident investigations
12) Monitor changes in local, state and federal safety regulations and determine how those changes impact the company’s safety compliance program
13) Track and monitor safety data and workers compensation costs in order to effectively reduce frequency of accidents and all costs associated with accidents occurring within the company
14) Coordinate with the Human Resources Department regarding workers compensation cases and their associated costs
15) Prepare reports for upper management to demonstrate progress toward achievement of safety goals

Requirements
Qualifications / Skills Required
1) BS Degree in Occupational or Industrial Safety
2) Certified Safety Profession (CSP) (preferred)
3) Minimum 3+ years of experience in working in an industrial safety role
4) Minimum 3+ years of experience in working in a manufacturing environment
5) Minimum 3+ years of experience in working in an agricultural company
6) Experience of working in an industrial safety environment
7) Knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations
8) Knowledge of the components of an effective commercial safety program
9) Knowledge of first aid procedures and ability to administer first aid in an emergency situation
10) Knowledge of how to use safety monitoring equipment
11) Ability to lift 40 or more pounds periodically
12) Ability to climb ladders, work from heights and work in confined spaces periodically
13) Ability to work in noisy and dusty environments occasionally with fluctuating temperatures
14) Assertive personality to hold employees and management accountable for compliance to all safety regulations and following proper safety procedures
15) Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with others
16) Excellent oral and written communications skills
17) Excellent planning and organizational skills
18) Excellent computer skills, including Excel, Outlook & MS Word
19) Excellent tact and motivational skills in attaining buy-in and accountability from management and employees to embrace safety practices everyday
