Our client in NYC seeks a UI Engineer. Work in a collaborative team environment to implement the User Interface of a high-transactional international e-commerce platform. Must be able to work independently, and be able to incorporate the design work, CSS files, and HTML of multiple vendors into a common framework within a .NET environment. Provide leadership in full development life cycle UI Engineering. Ensure the platform maintains evolving W3C standards of client side languages.
Participate in Research and Development into implementation of Rich Media into platform including video, zoom, and other dynamic imaging to drive online sales. Participate in the development of a Common Interface Layer to support content originally developed for the web being deployed into multiple channels, including ITV, mobile telephony, and PodCasts.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable in the grey world between User Interface Engineering and backend coding, but will have chosen User Interface Engineering as his or her passion and career path.
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of UI and templates in a large, multi-brand commerce environment
- Participate in the Research and Development of different tools and technologies that make the maintenance of enterprise-scale ecommerce websites more efficient - greater use of CSS for instance.
- Experience working with Ajax JavaScript Libraries.
- Strong Understanding of technical architecture, design, and scalability, and ability to collaborate with Senior Software engineers on these items.
- Experience working with Team Leads and Management to guide project definition and completion.
- Strong understanding of all elements of good UI design, including IA, visual design and branding.
Required Skills:
- BA/BS required. BA/BS in Computer Science desirable or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years experience as a UI engineer
- 2 -3 years experience as a UI engineer in Microsoft-centric development tools (VB, ASP, and XML/XSL)
- Strong UI development skills using VisualStudio.NET technologies
- Excellent knowledge of all relevant W3C standards (XHTML, DOM, CSS2)
- Deep knowledge of all client-side technologies, including Flash, DHTML, Javascript, etc.
- Experience using MS Visio, MS Project, and Adobe applications a plus
- Expert level front-end (UI) development skills, particularly using ASP.NET
- A strong foundation in older Microsoft technologies such as VB & ASP, as well as XML.
- A strong understanding of mid-tier and backend development (C#/.NET); actual hands-on C# development experience a plus
- Knowledge of SEO.
- Experience with Web Accessibility.
- A deep understanding of graphical design technologies and tools (Flash, Dreamweaver, Ajax, etc)
- The ability to mentor mid-level UI Engineers
- Experience leading development efforts on mission critical web/e-commerce projects
