REPRESENTATIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS

RESEARCH

As medical research specialist, successfully completed development of a molecular assay for quantification of plasma viral load. First author of a manuscript detailing the plasma viral load assay. Designed, conducted, troubleshot, and interpreted validation studies of molecular virology assays and techniques.

Secured an ongoing agreement from an outside contract laboratory to process plasma viral loads. Hosted a site visit for contract laboratory to audit the Real-Time PCR core lab and the in-house qPCR assay for quantification of plasma viral load. The contract resulted in increased outside revenue for the core lab and the university.

Competently completed development of a High Resolution Melt assay for genetic testing of the non-human primate colony. Designed, conducted, troubleshot, and interpreted validation studies of genetic testing and techniques.

Efficiently coordinate with Veterinarians and Veterinary Medicine s staff to start accepting non-human primate colony samples for a high-throughput blood screening assay resulting in a five-fold increase in sample load. Ensure samples are processed accordingly to establish standards. Assisted leadership in the development of a DNA banking core lab.

As core laboratory manager, oversee efficient laboratory operations, established reputation for training of faculty and staff gaining respect of leadership through extensive technical knowledge base. Increased productivity and expanded test capability of core laboratory through acquisition of cost-effective analytical equipment.

Effectively incorporated new equipment in the core lab increasing the technological resources of the Center. Competently transferred assay platforms and developed assay SOPs and establish standards.

Drafted and co-authored business plan for the Pathogen Detection and Quantification Core that now serves as a model for core laboratories at Tulane Primate Center. Elements of plan include accounting, budgeting and projections to justify operations.
